Housing Choice Voucher Program

Dane County Housing Authority administers the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program/Section 8 Program, which assists eligible low-income families and individuals in obtaining affordable, decent, sanitary, and safe housing in the Dane County area. Our jurisdiction is all of Dane County except the City of Madison, which is covered by the CDA of the City of Madison

The HCV Program is a major federal government program helping very low income families, the elderly, and disabled afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing. Both Project Based Vouchers (PBVs) and regular tenant based Housing Choice Vouchers (what most people think of when they think of Section 8) fall under this category.
